Sport and Recreation aims to get more people, more active, more often and encourage all in the community to strive for a healthy lifestyle which includes regular physical activity through sport and recreation.
Sport and Recreation are currently offering a leadership program to all young women between the ages of 16 – 24 years from multicultural backgrounds. The program will provide participants with the opportunity to gain skills and knowledge that will enable them to assist their communities to become more involved in sporting and physical activities. Attendees will improve their ability to work effectively with others, develop leadership skills and motivate others through strategies that promote a positive and healthy team environment.
Previous leadership programs run by Sport and Recreation have been highly beneficial and successful. The participants gained a number of useful skills and established valuable social networks with others who positively support their community through healthy life style choices.
The program has been structured over four days during the September school holidays. The program will be held at two locations: The first two days will be held at Sports House, Sydney Olympic Park and last two days at The Hub, Mt Druitt. Both of these sites are easily accessible by public transport and are walking distance from a train station.
This program is free of charge for all successful applicants.
