Sydney Women’s Homelessness Alliance will be holding a Women’s Transgender Forum to address current and pertinent issues on Thursday 28 May 2015. This issue was first put on the agenda for the alliance in 2012 as it was seen as an emerging service gap. Women who are transgender face huge inequities in terms of access to services which reinforces direct and indirect discrimination and places women in high risk situations.
The forum not only aims to educate, but to assist organisations to implement change. Experts in the field will talk about the legal issues, and how policy and organisational change must occur in order to rectify these inequities. Assistance will be available to organisations in the weeks following the Forum to effect policy review and promote change.
Who should attend?
Services that work with women across all sectors (NGO, health and government.) frontline staff, management and Board members.
