Sixteen year old Nathan Zhen from Caringbah in Sydney has won $1,000 and the opportunity to share his design skills across the state during NSW Youth Week 2012.
“Nathan won the NSW Youth Week website and poster design competition for his cleverly crafted and talented entry,” said the Minister responsible for Youth Victor Dominello MP.
“His artwork has really captured the theme for this year’s Youth Week – Imagine. Create. Inspire.
“The competition was judged by the Youth Week Young People’s Advisory Committee which is made up of young people aged 12 to 25 from around the State.
“I would like to congratulate Nathan for producing a design that is of a very high standard with an artistic ‘edginess’ that would appeal to both younger and older generations.”
The Youth Week in NSW Design Competition provides young and emerging artists with a great opportunity to showcase their talent and capture the ‘look’ and ‘feel’ of the week.
The winning poster design will be used to promote Youth Week 2012 throughout the state and as the basis for the design of the NSW website and promotional materials.
“NSW has an amazing number of highly talented young people who love art and design and it’s fantastic to see the creative responses to the Youth Week poster design competition,” Mr Dominello said.
Mark Speakman, State MP for Cronulla, added his congratulations to Nathan. “Nathan’s entry is a great design, and I’m obviously pleased for him to be picked from such a strong field.”
“Youth Week is a great opportunity to celebrate the opportunities young people have and the vibrancy and new ideas they bring. Nathan’s design captures the essence of Youth Week”, Mr Speakman added.
Youth Week 2012 will be held from 13 to 22 April 2012. It is the biggest annual youth participation initiative in NSW and is supported by the NSW Government. Last year nearly 100,000 young people across the state participated in more than 800 activities and events.
